Donations to support this site are welcome

Donations to help support this site and increase the number of questions that can be answered are very welcome. But don’t feel an obligation to do so. If you’re seriously ill you may well have accompanying financial difficulties, and your good wishes are every bit as important and valued as your financial support.

If you do decide to make a donation, then it’s probably best if you only donate a small amount. Yes, you did read that correctly! It may seem an odd thing to say in a world where charitable groups and organizations always seem to be doing their best to extract as much money from you as possible (particularly the larger ones, which employ expensive advertising agencies and engage in slick marketing campaigns). However, when you’re seriously ill you may well be able to get considerable satisfaction from giving to good causes, but in order to maximize that satisfaction it usually makes sense to give a small donation to each one of many different causes.

You can donate to this website using a credit or debit card, or via a PayPal account, if you have one: use the donation button for your preferred currency at the bottom of this page.

How to Donate using a Credit / Debit Card

If you haven’t used PayPal before, then paying with a credit or debit card is much the same as with any other online payment service provider (you don’t need a PayPal account and you don’t need to sign-up for a PayPal account).

After pressing the relevant “Donate” button at the bottom of this page, you’ll be taken to the PayPal website where you can enter the details of your donation in the pane at the top of the page.

Then, if you don’t see a set of fields on the left-hand side for your credit or debit card details, you should see instead a “Don’t have a PayPal account?” section on the bottom-left of the page:

Click on the “Continue” link and you’ll be taken to a page containing the fields needed to enter your credit or debit card details.

After entering your credit or debit card details, press the “Review Donation and Continue” button.

On the “Review” page, check the amount of your donation (if your card uses a different currency to that specified for the “Donate” button selected, then the amount of the donation will be shown in both currencies). Finally, press the “Donate Now” button to complete the process.

If your donation is processed successfully, you’ll be taken to the “Confirmation” page.

To return to this website from the PayPal website, press the “Return to Donations Coordinator” button (note that a “Return to Donations Coordinator” link is present on each page, and you can click on it to cancel the donation process at any time and return to this website immediately).

    Make a Donation

To avoid the hassle of currency conversion, you can donate using any of the following currencies (using either a credit / debit card or your PayPal account). Just press the “Donate” button next to the currency in which you wish to make a donation (if you have a PayPal account, then a wider range of currencies will be available once you login):

Australian Dollars (AUD)
Brazilian Reals (BRL)
Canadian Dollars (CAD)
Eurozone Euros (EUR)
Hong Kong Dollars (HKD)
Israeli Shekels (ILS)
Japanese Yen (JPY)
New Zealand Dollars (NZD)
Russian Roubles (RUB)
Singapore Dollars (SGD)
Swiss Francs (CHF)
United Kingdom Pounds (GBP)
United States Dollars (USD)

If your credit or debit card uses a different currency, then you can still pay using one of the currencies listed above. PayPal will automatically work out the conversion rate and show you the amount of your donation in both currencies on its “Review” page (before you are asked to confirm the donation). If you wish to work out the currency equivalent in advance, then you can use this Currency Converter.
